Our story

Our mission: to teach you the French that people actually speak - not the textbook version.

I'm Elisabeth. I've been teaching French for six years and I run the YouTube channel "Learn French with Elisabeth - Hellofrench", now followed by more than 320,000 learners.

The channel and the school exist for one reason: to teach the French you actually hear on the street, at the bakery, in a café.

Mathieu is my husband. He builds the platform and the tools behind the courses.

Everything you see here, we built it ourselves, from our home just outside Marseille: the dialogues, the method, the exercises, the app, the corrections, every update. All of it.

How these courses came to be

It began with the roadblocks my students kept hitting.

For the past six years I've been teaching French to adults all over the world: on YouTube, in my online courses and one-on-one over video.

My students come from very different backgrounds, yet the same handful of obstacles keeps coming up:

"I can follow slow French pretty well, but the moment someone speaks at normal speed, I lose the thread."

"I get lost in conversations because I don't know the everyday words and expressions people actually use."

"Why do French people say it this way? That's not what I learned in class."

I've heard these same things over and over.

So I started building online courses to help my students get past those roadblocks for good.
